We’re excited to begin 2026 with a commission from Newnham College in Cambridge to design and deliver the refurbishment and retrofit of the Grade II* listed Kennedy Building.
Designed by Architect Basil Champneys and completed in 1906, the Kennedy Building is one of the key buildings of the college estate and houses a mix of teaching and study rooms.
In line with the college’s strategic goals, this exciting pioneer project will inform the refurbishment and decarbonisation plans for the wider college estate.
The project builds on our experience in establishing a successful relationship between the sustainability and heritage of listed buildings. Through a mix of material interventions and structural adaptations, we will transform the building’s spatial and energy efficiency. The work will improve accessibility and optimise the Kennedy Building’s contribution to the wider college as a comfortable, contemporary research and teaching facility.
